Alderton has an active bowls club that plays in both the Woodbridge and District and the Fynn Leagues. The Woodbridge and District Bowls League consists of two divisions comprising a number of clubs from the southern part of the East Suffolk area. Matches in this league are normally played on a Tuesday evening either on our home green, next to the Recreation Field, or away at another club.
We have been fortunate in being able to refurbish the clubhouse in 2022 with funding from the Suffolk Community Foundation Pargiter Trust Fund.
The Fynn League was established to give new players match experience and most matches in this league are played on a Thursday evening. This league is divided into two sections with the winners from each section playing against each other to win the Fynn League Trophy.
The club also enters cup matches such as the Suffolk Junior Cup, the Salter Cup, the Jubilee Shield and the Percy Dunnett Memorial Trophy which raises money for the Benevolent Fund.
In addition to the matches, club members meet on a Monday evening for friendly roll-ups. These allow new members to get started and gain experience.
So, whatever your age, if you fancy trying something new then contact us via the Parish Council at alderton.suffolk@gmail.com.
